Beaglemania in California!

Little
Uno, an adorable beagle, just won the big Westminster
Kennel Club dog show. He was the first ever beagle to
do so in the show’s 130 year history! On March 26th,
Uno met the other most famous beagle ever… cartoon
beagle Snoopy!
AGW
was on hand at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park,
California when the two famous dogs met at the park’s
Camp Snoopy. We also met Uno’s young handler/trainer
Aaron Wilkerson who has been with the 2 and1/2 year-old
wonder-dog since the pooch was only 6 months old!

| Aaron
has trained, handled and shown many dogs but Uno is special,
“When the owner brought him to me, I knew he was going
to do something very special, but I didn’t know that
it was going to happen so fast. He’s just been a great
little dog, and besides the winning that he’s done,
he’s just a dog that makes you smile all the time”,
says Aaron. We can vouch for that. Uno was super friendly
but very well-behaved. Aaron told us, “Uno is just
a great ambassador for the breed, and he’s what a
beagle is supposed to be which is a merry little animal”.
Uno will continue traveling as a celeb ambassador for beagles
everywhere until the end of the year. |

Aaron
says that after this year, Uno will retire to live in Texas
with his owners where he’ll be the dad to, hopefully,
many prizewinning puppies! Won’t Aaron miss his pal?
“Sure I’m going to miss him, but it’s
just one of those things that you have to do. The owner
wants to have him at the house, so I know it’s going
to be one of those sad days whenever it has to come to that”.
Aaron told us that young Uno is retiring at the top of his
game, “It is kind of unusual to be retired so young,
but after you win the Westminster Dog Show there’s
nothing else to do. And we all want to remember that great
night, and that great performance that he gave, so for Uno
it was the best thing to retire him after that Best in Show”. |

a WWI flying ace, an Olympic Figure Skater, a book author,
a shortstop and a “Beagle Scout” and more.
Both
beagles should forever hold a warm spot in our hearts!
