June 2003

Hi! Lauren, here. This month I've been at school and staring at a boy I like. School is getting confusing, but it's all good. Math is confusing me. Decimals and fractions. I don't understand the explanations all the time. I want to ask more questions, but I'm kinda scared to do it. Also, we're done with SAT testing. YAY! I think I did good.

I'm a Junior Girl Scout. My troop is going camping and we're making up all the things we're going to do, like activities and food. On the campout, we're going to sleep in as late as we can, have fun cooking meals and making art projects. We're going to the mountains. I like Girl Scouts because I can get together with my friends and have a good time. It's nice to be a girl.

I'm going to sixth grade and I'm going to be in the choir. I'm looking forward to sixth grade, but I'm kinda scared at the same time. It's a whole new school to learn. New people, new teachers, new rules, new life. I'm looking forward to taking our Babysitting Class. I'm going to be sitting my baby brother all alone for the first time. I want to do a great job.

Later and out!

Hi! I'm Sarada.

This month I've been reading books that are AR books (Accelerated Reader) and each book gives you a certain amount of points. So, you have to read the book and then take the test where you answer ten questions about the book. If you get any wrong, that takes off points so it's not good to guess.

My favorite books this month were Doctor Doolittle and the Island of the Blue Dolphins. Island of the Blue Dolphins is about a girl and her tribe on an island that is shaped like a dolphin. One day they have to move off their island because people came and killed all the dolphins. The girl's little brother runs back for his spear and the ship leaves without him. His big sister jumps off the boat to be with her little brother. The rest of the book is about how she survives and how she built her own house and catches her own food and survives. I like the book because the girl is a real survivor. At the end she takes her pets with her. I really like the book because I like animals and dolphins. You should read it too!

I play violin and I sing. I'm going to be in the PTA concert with Lauren and my other friends. We're singing four songs for Teacher Appreciation week. We did one for Christmas called "Snow Pants" that I really didn't like. It was something that three year olds should sing. All the adults liked it but no one singing it liked it. We all had to pretend. I'm glad there's not any stupid songs like that in this concert.

I've always wanted a cat, but my mom is allergic to them so I can't get one. But I think you'll like this month's Paws for Thought. Have fun reading the website. I liked working on it. I'm looking forward to reading your letters. (Hint! Hint! Write!)
