The Way You Betrayed Me
I see you there in front of me,
Your face your hands your eyes,
I hear you talk,
I hear you tell,
Your hopes your dreams your lies,
I walked with you a sunlit trail,
Together hand in hand,
Then twilight came and you were gone,
And now alone I stand
The woods are dark the trees are black,
The night is closing in,
And you have gone away from me,
Your faultless light dimmed,
Betrayal is an empty space,
Raw night cold room alone,
And no one can redeem you,
Sweet knight safe light you're gone
- Robyn, 15, USA
Beyond The Window
I look out my window,
as the rain falls,
and I see my face,
reflecting in my window--
How many times have I seen that face?
How many times have I wished that face,
was not my own?
The rain fades softly away,
Then a shaft of sun
pierces the clouds,
like a sword.
I see the light,
and know that I am not alone.
Now I remember,
I can see, I am who I am,
and now I see light,
Beyond The Window.
- Shea, 10, Florida, (PenPal #16617)
Ducks
Comically
waddling across the grass,
In slow awkward silence
it walks,
But on the water its
grace is shown
The beauty in how it
moves
