My dad is awsome. Thats it. He would do anything
just for me. I can't remember all the times he packed up the motor
home and we went on camping adventures that we still remember
and laugh about.
When I was diagnosed with Type One diabetes,
he stayed in the hospital and kept me company while my mom was
out buying supplies I needed. He taught me to play football, and
then how to catch it after I broke my finger. We both like scary
movies and he always gives my hand a squeeze when I need it. He
helps me with science projects and tells me how things work. When
I told him I wanted to be a lawyer, he laughed and said "You
can be anything you want to be as long as you love it." He
taught me that giving up won't do anything - it'll just make the
problem worse. "Can't" is not a word in our vocabulary
because he loves us too much.
He likes working on cars and telling stories
of his childhood. He understands what a shoulder to cry on is
for, and he lets me ruin his best shirts. He may embarrass me
at times but I wouldn't change him for the world. He makes me
laugh at the worse possible times .When my mother says she looks
fat he looks at her then says, "If you're fat, then I'm a
blimp." Whenever I wake up on Sunday, I smell the comfort
of bacon and waffles. He knows when to ask, when to listen, and
when to go out for ice cream. He buries my pets and says a little
service for them when they die.
In the summer we go for walks just me and him,
salt and pepper, Big Joe and little joe. My dad may not have all
the money in the world, and he may not wear a suit and tie to
work. But he's the best I have and he's all I've got.He loves
my sister, mom, and I more than anything in the world.
