I
think my dad
is bravest because he is a cop and he protects people for a living.
And if I am hurt he is always there to make sure I am OK. He has
been through three knee surgeries, and has broken his nose 14
times! – Heather, 10, Colorado
My
dad survived 9/11
while he was at work. He was walking to the subway and was right
by the World Trade Center when it collapsed. My dad ran as fast
as he could, and even fell a couple of time and crashed into buildings
and trees. He didn't let that stop him though. He got up like
nothing had happened and kept running. He was scared, but he didn't
show it. He couldn't even see where he was going, and, again,
didn't let that stop him. The reason he was running for his life
was because of my brother, my mom, and me. I was just in pre-school,
and he knew I was too young to lose my dad, and so was my brother.
He knew what to do in one of the most terrifying situations, when
a lot of people couldn't think of solutions. If it weren't for
my dad's bravery, he wouldn't be here with me today. – Julia,

He
was in the army
for 12 years and went to war in Desert Storm. For a living, he
is a construction inspector, which means he climbs on roofs and
other high places. He is not afraid of anything. He goes hunting
uses strong powerful guns/weapons, and he lifts almost 100-pound
weights in the gym. He will defend any of his friends no matter
what! – Elizabeth, 13, Ohio
