Mother's Day 2010
Country Kitchen
The Ultimate
Mother's Day Breakfast

Here's our menu for Mother's Day. We tested these recipes at a Girl Crew meeting. They are quick, fun treats sure to bring a smile to your mom's face and warm her heart. Set a nice place at the table with flowers, a pretty place mat and your best dishes. Maybe even a candle, just for fun.

Also on the table -- a special mother's day menu. On one side, we'll have the food we're going to serve. On the other side, we're adding on the words from this song from the Spice Girl's "Spice" Album. The recipes follow the song. So have fun showing your mom the best Mother's Day ever!

Your friends from the Girl Crew test kitchen, Lindsay, Angela, Gina, Brigid, Renee and Sara

      A Tribute to My Mom
      Written by the Spice Girls

      • Mama
      • She used to be my only enemy and never let me free,
      • Catching me in places that I know I shouldn't be,
      • Every other day I crossed the line, I didn't mean to be so bad,
      • I never thought you would become the friend I never had
      • Back then I didn't know why, why you were misunderstood,
      • So now I see through your eyes, all that you did was love,
      • Mama I love you, Mama I care,
      • Mama I love you, Mama my friend,
      • My friend!
      • I didn't want to hear then but I'm not ashamed to say it now,
      • Every little thing you said and did was right for me,
      • I had a lot of time to think about, about the way I used to be,
      • Never had a sense of my responsibility.
      • Back then I didn't know why, why you were misunderstood,
      • So now I see through your eyes, all that you did was love
      • Mama I love you, Mama I care
      • Mama I love you, Mama my friend
      • My friend
      • But now I'm sure I know why, why you were misunderstood,
      • So now I see through your eyes, all I can give you is love,
      • Mama I love you, Mama I care,
      • Mama I love you, Mama my friend
      • My friend...

      Chocolate Chip Pancake Recipe

      • Time: Start to finish, 15 minutes
      • Cleanup: 15 minutes
      • Notes from AGW crew: Delicious, plan on lots of milk to drink or juice. The chocolate chips make you thirsty.

      What You Need:

      • Big mixing bowl
      • Measuring cup
      • Stirring spoon
      • Spatula
      • Big Plate to put pancakes on
      • Hot pads
      • Electric griddle or frying pan
      • Pan/Cooking Spray

      Food Ingredients:

      • 1 cup milk
      • 2 eggs
      • 2 cups Bisquick Original baking mix
      • Chocolate Chips (1/2 cup)
      • Can of whipping cream

      How to make it:

      1. Spray griddle or frying pan with cooking spray so the pancakes don't stick
      2. Mix together all the food ingredients (except the whipping cream)
      3. Stir until everything is blended together.
      4. Drop each pancake with a ladle or spoon onto the hot griddle.
      5. Cook about four minutes. You'll see the pancakes bubble all over.
      6. Check the edge. You should be able to pick it up cleanly, the edge should be dry and light brown.
      7. Turn the pancake over with your spatula.
      8. Cook it until it is also light or golden brown.

This makes eight goodsized pancakes. Top with whipping cream and serve. These pancakes are good with syrup or by themselves. The AGW crew made them for practice and decided they were yummy, good, and outstanding as snacks. You can reheat them in the microwave.
