The
Coolest Moms:
The Royal Court for 2006
A while ago
I was really insecure about the way I looked so I went on a diet, a
really unhealthy and dangerous diet. I thought I could get away with
it, and for a while I did, but one day my mom told me she knew. She
took me outside and had a long talk with me about changes that my body
would make. That helped for a while, but then I went back to doing it
again. A few months later my mom found out that I was doing it again,
and practically did an intervention (by herself). We had a long and
emotional talk. I’m over it now, but what my mom did for me that
day was the coolest thing anyone could have done for me. I really do
think it changed my life. – Leigh, 11, North Carolina
My mom is the coolest person
in the world because she and I can share a lot of experiences and talk
about a lot of stuff together. We laugh a lot, and spend a lot of quality
time together. Even though my dad (being in the Air Force) doesn't make
a lot of money, she makes a lot of sacrifices and always tries to make
sure that my sister and I have it really easy. I love my mom for that.
I don't like it when we fight, which is rarely, but sometimes we end
up laughing for the littlest things that we fought about. I love my
mother so much, and I want her to know that she is the coolest person
I know and I want our special relationship to last forever. She is my
best friend when I am in need. – Kayleigh, 13, Germany

I don’t really have
a mom but I've lived with my foster mom for three years. The top reason
she is the coolest is cause she took me in when she didn’t know
me. There are also other reasons - she’s on my side 100% and never
lets me fail. She brings me to the mall, or the movies or anything,
just so we can hang out and spend time together. When my friends sleep
over she makes sure we have as much fun as possible. – Cassandra,
