Heidi's Mom!

I saw tension cross my Mom's face as I kept talking. I saw that she was really feeling uncomfortable, but I knew I had to go on. "Mom, the church is hosting a Mother-Daughter night, and I really would like it if you came," I told her. To most moms they might not even have a second thought about it, but that was different for my mom and me. You see I'm the only one in my house who goes to church. Mom has never felt to comfortable there, and to have a mother-daughter night with all the Moms and girls of my religion might be a bit awkward for her. "Would you please come?" I asked again. I saw her inhale a deep breath. She held it for a moment then exhaled. "Yes, I think I will," she replied. I smile crossed my face, and excitement filled me. About a week later my mom and I went to the activity, and had a great time. What made it even better was knowing that she cared more about me than feeling uncomfortable and acted selflessly. It was the coolest thing she's ever done for me. I love my mom. – Heidi, 14, USA
