Study Smart:First Aid

The Scoop on Relationships

The Problem...

Dear Study Smart: I met this guy who I really liked, we really hit it off. I thought he was so fine, but I guess one of my "friends" said I said something about him and now he's mad at me. It's been about 5 weeks since we talked is it over? Should i talk to him or should I ignore him? What should I do?

Lost in Las Vegas

A Solution...

Dear Lost: Hey, girl! There wouldn't be anything wrong with dropping him a note. Ask him if he is mad or what? Tell him what you heard. Ask him if it's true. Then wait. If you don't hear back from him, you'll have to let him go.

(P.S. Friends don't blab secrets about other friends to boys that make them not want to talk to you again. And if this guy believes your friends without talking to you first, he ain't worth losing sleep over! ;)

--Tessa

The Problem...

Dear Study Smart: I know this guy that likes me and I like him too. He even admitted that I was the prettiest girl in the entire 8th grade. I just don't know how to ask him out. Help!

Oh So Desperate! 13

A Solution...

Dear Oh So Desperate: You lucky girl! Why not start with something easy like asking him to lunch with some friends? You know he is probably as confused as you are about how to start all this. It wouldn't hurt to make the first move.

The Problem...

Dear Study Smart: There is this boy at school that I like yet everyone thinks he is a nerd. I like him because he is kind. What should I do?

Christine, 13

A Solution...

Dear Christine: Hey, girl! Sounds like you have a better idea about how to choose a friend than everybody else does at your school. I think it's great that you like this boy for his good qualities. Isn't that everyone's dream? To be liked for who they are? Stay friends with him. There's nothing wrong with being smart, quiet and shy. That's the definition of a nerd, right? Well, read the business news. Nerds rule today's world. My dad's a nerd, and proud of it. So's my mom. Yesterday's nerds are the ones making million's of dollars at Microsoft today. So, like who you like. Don't worry what other girls think. You have a chance to make a friendship that'll last a long, long time with a sweet, sensitive guy. The other girls will be kicking themselves when he grows up handsome and smart at 17. Go for it. They missed the chance.
