How to Memorize Math

Using Flash Cards

flash cards
  • Use flash cards. They're great for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and even definitions and formulae for algebra and geometry.

  • Write the problem on one side and the answer on the other.

  • Make your own cards. That helps.

  • Then, go through them one at a time. Give the answer, then check it by turning the card over.

  • Make two piles. The ones you get right, the ones you don't.

  • When you've gone through all the cards, go to the pile of cards that you didn't know the answer to and go through them again.

  • Mix them up! Never do cards in the same order

More Math Memory Tips

  • Some people learn better by sound-so say the problem out loud.

  • Some people learn by writing-so write it down.

  • Some people learn by doing - like using a calculator (then memorize what's needed!).

  • Figure out your personal style and use it!
