Study Smart:Ace Your Tests!

Cram City

Cramming isn't a good way of learning something, but everybody does it sometime. Always concentrate on info that you know, instead of worrying about what you don't know. And ALWAYS get PLENTY of rest before a test. --Constance

Cram Plan

  • Ask your teacher what kind of test this will be. Get her or him to tell you exactly what topics will be on the test.

  • What kind of exam is it?

  • Is any part of the test worth more than another part?

  • Is the essay worth more than the multiple choice?

Cram Jam

  • Get out your notes and book.

  • Make yourself a check list of the top ten things your teacher has covered.

  • Make a study sheet for yourself.

    notes
  • Go over your class notes and look at the high points.

  • Put down words, phrases, anything that will help you remember the topic.

  • Pay attention to what your teacher thought was important.

  • Don't try to know everything. Know the key facts.

  • Look at an encyclopedia article about your subject.

  • With history, that will give you an idea about what's important.

  • Do fact flash cards. Work it until you know it.

  • Use the Memory Tips in Study Smart to cram the information you need into your head.

At the test, relax. Pretend you're going to do great! Then go do your best. And next time, don't cram. Give yourself the gift of being prepared.
