Lauren: What are your goals and dreams?
Adm. Evans: Of course, I love what I'm doing now. My current assignment is just wonderful. I think that my biggest dream for the future is that I really do want to help young women realize their own potential.
That's why I'm so excited about the opportunity to participate in "A Girl's World," because I think it's not good enough that any one of us have success. We have to help those coming behind us. I hope that at least one young woman might be inspired to do her best. And maybe she'll think about a career in the armed forces or even a career of just serving in some other role in this country where you're contributing to making the country better.
I've had an awful lot of people in my life help me -- teachers, ministers, friends, people in different clubs and organizations that I've been in. Whether it's Girl Scouts or church groups, people have helped me a lot.
And that's why I'm here today. I can't repay them all -- there's too many people -- you can't just repay that kind of help except you can help other young women have the opportunity to succeed.
So one of my strong personal commitments is to try to help as many young women as I can by sharing my experiences or maybe making connections. If I know someone is interested in a certain field and I don't know anything about it, maybe I can find somebody who is in that field and get people linked up. That's my commitment, that's my goal and that's my dream.
