Hey Sports Talk: Why can't you argue with any refs in sports? Sometimes they are really wrong! Who are refs responsible to? Who could throw one out if he/she wasn't fair? <->----Tessa, 13, Canada

I completely understand your feelings! It can get really aggravating when a referee makes a bad call and there is nothing you can do about it. But unfortunately, there isn't really anything that can be done about that. A coach can try and argue a point with a ref, but the ref has authority over the coach so what he or she says, goes! I don't think a ref can be thrown out of a game unless he or she physically harms a player or coach.

However, if you believe a referee is treating one team unfairly, you can appeal to the Athletic Department and they can take action. I hope that this helps you! Just keep in mind that the sole purpose of a ref is to have everyone play fair, even though sometimes they make you mad! Have fun and good luck! -- Lindsay, 15, Louisiana
