Welcome to the Space
Where Girls and Teens Rule the Web

This is the place where girls and teens rule the web.
May, 2000: Happy 4th Birthday
A Girl's World!

At A Girl's World Online Clubhouse®
(AGW) we believe being a girl or a teen is something to celebrate. If you're looking for a space on the Internet that's totally girlpowered? You found it! Everything on our site is written and edited by girls and teens. With AGW's programs, girls the world over have a chance to make new friends, explore and prepare for the future, dream big dreams, and be creative and adventurous.

What People Are Saying About Us

USA TODAY: Featured on March 14th as "Everything a Girl Could Want." Since 1996, the only free online magazine with daily, weekly and monthly features written and edited by girls and teens.
New York Times: Thursday, May 21, said we're one of the top three "killer apps for girls"!

Snipped from: the New York Times, Thursday, May 21, 1998, by Bronwyn Fryer

"There are a few wonderful sites that present utterly absorbing, enjoyable and comparatively safe places for pre-teenage and teen-age girls. In fact, I'm convinced that, taken together, Web sites like the ones reviewed here-- Girl Tech, Purple Moon and A Girl's World -- may just be the "killer app" for girls... A Girl's World is run by a staff of volunteers, almost all of whom are girls themselves. The result is an admirable, if unsophisticated, zine for girls (that is an) amazing testament to the creative energy of its visitors... Although the presentation of A Girl's World is simple and straightforward --nearly everything is rendered in text -- it has a greater abundance of spirit than a Girl Scout cookout...refreshing."

"This is a wonderful site for girls, with great content. Any girl who wants to can submit an article, and get credit for it! They will also receive a free year's membership to Gold Key Circle and the safety measures (in a Gold Key) are exemplary. There is no advertising, no hidden agenda, just girls having fun!"

"I simply can't praise this site enough! I couldn't find one thing I didn't like about it, and I am pretty picky about what I let my girls do and see. I have never been crazy about the idea of kids chat rooms, either, but I like the idea of the membership, password protected chat rooms...The articles are well written and informative, the crafts are fun, the teen advice column is right on target with teen concerns, and being able to contribute your own articles is a wonderful idea! A Girl's World Online Club is definitely deserving of our Gold Award for Excellence."

"I got to talk to a real rocket scientist! I can't wait to tell all my friends. I love science. I want to be a scientist when I grow up. Holly

"This is one cool place for GIRLS where girls aren't expected to be wimps." --Mallory

"When I first got here, I thought this would be all about makeup, prissy stuff like that. But it's not, so it's cool!" --Samantha

"Hey! I just wanted to thank you for making this so fun. I am 15 and I am having lots o fun and was surprised to find people my age when I found this site. *THANKS ALOT!* --RDUDA

What Adults Say About AGW

I recently had the pleasure of visiting AGW and was thrilled with what I found! It's such a pleasure to see a magazine for girls that doesn't dwell on "hot hunks" or how to increase your (physical) appeal. Girls of this age desperately need to be valued for who they are, not for how close they come to some Hollywood ideal...it's wonderful that you profile women of true achievement, not just models and actresses. Young girls need to have women to look up to, and you are doing a great job in providing role models.-- Kelly NH

"I very much believe in what you're doing for young girls. I think it's critical to have girl sites that don't just hawk the latest makeup trends, but that really promote independence and unique thinking. In any case, kudos to you for what you're doing. We need more young girls to have self-confidence." --Heather I.
