It’s finally that time of the year again – it’s Christmas! Everybody’s favourite time of the year right? And, if you are expecting guests over the festive period then decorating your guest room in a way that is appropriate for Christmas will make them feel that little bit more welcome.
This doesn’t mean you need to go over the top with Christmas decorations because it needs to be comfortable for them to sleep in – just a few personal touches will do. To give you a helping hand we have compiled a handful of decorating ideas for your guest room.
Keeping it simple
Try to resist going overboard and refrain from decorating the room in the same way you would your living room. Two or three Christmas items in a bedroom is more than enough to create that festive feel. If you want a tree, opt for a small one and then hang a couple of decorations on the wall. Do not cover the place in tinsel!
Swap bedding and curtains
Opt for more seasonal bedding and matching curtains. If you don’t want to go for anything over the top with printed pictures of Santa’s face and his reindeer on, then why not go for a nice tartan pattern? You can then mix and match festive patterns throughout the room. Also, style blankets in a colour that would coordinate throughout the festive style.
If you’re worried that you don’t actually have a bed suitable for guests, then take a look at Divan Beds Centre – Zip & Link Beds and get yourself a new one just in time for Christmas.
Fairy lights create a Christmas effect, but for a bedroom avoid having ones that change colours or flash in sequence. Stick to warm yellows or white lights. Mount them above the headboard or to mix it up a bit get some paper lanterns to hang across the ceilings or around the window.
A festive display
Why not create a festive display on your bedside tables? The way to do this is to buy a handful of Christmas decorations such as sparkly reindeers, small Christmas trees, little snowman figurines and candles. Place them together and there you have a bedside table display! Why not tie some pretty red ribbon to the pulls of the drawers and drape some tinsel over the bed frame?
These are not just for your front doors. You can use them indoors too! You can hang them over a wardrobe, above a fireplace (if you have one), along the mirror or across the windowsill. Nothing says Christmas like a wreath that is covered with shimmering festive objects and glitter, does it?
Reds and whites
If patterns aren’t what you are looking for, then typical Christmas colours need to be interpreted into the guest bedroom without a doubt. Red and white is the go to scheme. Create a Christmas feel with colourful ornaments and scatter cushions. If your guest bedroom is already a neural white then adding some colour into it will really make it pop.
Interpret these ideas into your guest bedroom and begin your Christmas decoration project now so you’re all ready for friends and family this festive season.
