How Can I Get My Friend to Myself?

My best friend is in 6th grade, and I'm in 7th, so we don't get to see each other that often. She gets to see her boy friend all the time. But she brings him everywhere with us. I like him, but not that much. What do I do to tell my friend that I'd rather talk to her alone? - Sophia, 12, Kentucky

"Hey, Sophia!" Being that you don't get to see you best friend very often at school without her boyfriend around, then I'd suggest that one evening you can call her over to your house. While she's there, calmly tell her how you feel. Then ask her if she can talk it over with her boyfriend.

For instance, if he came with her to your house, then ask to talk to her alone. Tell her how you feel and then ask her if she'd talk it over with her boyfriend. And if she says yes, but wants you to join in with her while telling her boyfriend then do so!!
