I Want Some More Friends! Hey! Well, I sort of have this problem with my best friend. She is really nice and we have been friends for a very long time now. But, whenever I try to make a new friend, she wants to keep me all to herself, and tries to find all these bad things about my new friend. How can I keep my best friend while being able to make new friends? - Alice, 12, Japan "Hey, Alice!" Your best friend sounds exactly like what I used to be like. Then my friend told me something and I realized I had to let her make new friends. What you could do is try to tell her how you feel. You could tell her that you feel you need to make new friends in case something ever happens like her being sick or something. Because if she was out of school for being sick you would have no one to hang out with. Try explaining to her that she is and will be your best friend forever, but that you still need to make new friends. Spend equal amount of time with her as you do with your new friends, or maybe more with her than you do with your new friends until she learns that it is ok that you make new friends. Good Luck!
