I Want to Keep My Friend!
My best friend used to be unattractive but she went away for the summer, got braces on her teeth, lost weight, got a make-over and now she's a total hottie. All the guys and popular girls are noticing her suddenly. Since I'm not ugly but kinda plain, I don't feel like I fit in with her anymore. How can I keep my friend? - Wendy, 14, Florida "Hey, Wendy!" Changing our outer part never changes what's inside us. If this helps; what always counts is what's inside, not the appearance. Your friend will always be your friend. Talk to her about it. It's the best way of resolving it. Being a bit jealous is normal but she is your friend and you should be happy for her. Even if she is prettier than you now, your relationship shouldn't change. If her feelings for you are the same, you both can continue being good friends. Good luck! (Editor's note: Maybe she can help you with your own make-over. It could be fun but don't make your difference in appearance the basis of your friendship).
