Why Don't I Get the Compliments Too? My sister and I are really very close. She is 11 and I am 10. We are always in competition with each other, in everything from horseback riding, to swimming competitions. I know it has nothing to do with the one year age difference because we are in all of the same levels in the things we are involved in. Even in school we are in competition with each other. It's because my parents push both my sister and me very hard. But she always seems to do better then I do. I always feel like I need to do better then her, but I never do. My parents are always complimenting her in everything she does but not me. I never get complimented. Is there any way to make my parents understand that both she and I are winners and not just her? - Geraldina, 10, New Mexico "Hey, Geraldina!" Well, what I would do is try to find a different sport or event that you or your sister is not in. And I would also try talking to your parents about the complementing situation. I hope I did good but I'm an only child so I did my best to under stand your problem!
(Editor's Note - You did fine, Allison! And Geraldina, talking to your parents is probably the best idea. You might also talk to your sister too, and see if she has noticed the same thing!)
