Dear Family Faire

But I Just Want to Wear Some Nail Polish!

I have this problem with my parents: They don't allow me to wear make-up or nail polish to school. They told me that I have to be 21 in order to decide anything for myself. I am sooo frustrated. I don't get it because I think nail polish is totally fine, and all my friends do wear nail polish to school. I told my parents about it but they still won't listen. How can I wait until I'm 21? - Olivia, 11, China

"Hey, Olivia!" If you want to wear it and your friends tease you about it, here is what you can do. Sit down with your mom in a quiet place and tell her not to start yelling and saying no right away. If she does do that after you tell her say, "What is so wrong with doing what I want to when you probably got to wear it when you were at my age." But don't yell at her and if she says she couldn't do it at your age either, then that is probably why she doesn't want you to. If you still can't wear it... oh well, then don't.

Don't make it worse by wearing it when they tell you not to. If your fiends tease you, tell them you don't care what they say and you shouldn't anyway. If they tease you, they are not your true friends.
