Dear Family Faire


I Just Want My Dad to Listen!

My dad and I fight all the time. Sometimes it feels like it is getting a little out of hand. Like, we'll get into a HUGE argument. I want things to work out with him but I don't know how to get through to him. I try and try and try... but he just doesn't listen to me when I talk to him. Is there any other way? - Cassidy, 11, Florida

"Hey, Cassidy!" I really like your name. Your problem with your dad... Have you both tried sitting down and REALLY talking to each other? Maybe before you talk, you can both promise to try to hear the other person out. Doing this will give you the opportunity to tell him how you feel without worrying whether he'll listen to you or not.

Also, what do you argue about? Is it stuff that isn't worth arguing about? Like maybe, not being able to stay up later? To avoid an argument, try seeing what your arguing about then, decide if it's worth getting mad about.
