I have an identical twin sister. Up until this year, she and I dressed in the same clothes, and shared the same interests and friends. Now things are totally different. I am sporty and I am involved in a lot of sports. I also don't really care about my appearance and I don't bother with makeup. My sis is a real girly-girl and is always talking about guys and things like that. She also wears makeup and spends an hour everyday worrying about her clothes. I can't be bothered. We are also in two totally different groups of friends. My parents can't seem to understand how different we are! My mom will come home with new clothes for her and me and they are the exact same. My dad just bought us both new backpacks for school, and yup, they are the same! We just had our twelfth birthday and we both got nearly the same things. We have two totally different personalities and likes and dislikes but my mom and dad don't see that! How can I get them to understand that we may look alike but we are both two different girls and like different things? - Lucy, 12, Nebraska "Hey, Lucy!" Have you tried to talk with your parents about this problem? If not they are probably just used to the both of you enjoying the same things as you used too. If I was in this particular situation I would ask my parents and sister to have a "sit down." That's kind of like a family meeting. Make sure that your family is free during the time you plan on having this sit down. Make sure that they know that it is important, but not a crisis. During your sit down then, maturely tell them how you feel. I would say something effect: "Mom,dad, though my sister and I are alike in looks we are growing into our own personalities. That doesn't mean that we will be less close, just that that we aren't identical in every way anymore." I hope that this helps.
