Polymer Clay Necklace!

What You Need

• Three colors of polymer clay, white, yellow and rust are nice (Fimo(TM) and Sculpey)
• Small beads to complement your chosen colors
• Your favorite art or picture photocopied
• Colored string
• Clasp
• Foil
• A Rolling pin
• A Craft knife
• Some toothpicks

How to Do It

• Make a photocopy of your favorite cartoon or a photo. It should be black and white when you are done.
• Use the rolling pin to roll out a ball of white clay so it is flat like a sheet
• Cut a square shape from this white square. Make sure it is big enough for your image.
• Cut out your photocopied picture so it fits the clay square
• Put the image down (image side down) onto the white clay square
• Squish the image hard into the clay. There should be no bubbles.
• Leave the image on there for two to four hours.
• When you peel the image up, it should have moved onto the clay.
• Watch your fingers. It will move and run until you bake it.
• Roll out a long, thin, tiny log of the rest of your white clay
• Cut it into three logs, all the same size.
• Braid the logs together just like you would braid hair.
• Press this braid around your image. Now you've made a frame!
• Don't forget to make a loop at the top for your string.
• Bake your pendant at 275 degrees for ten minutes.
• Don't bake longer than that.
• Take your other two colors of clay and roll them out into two flat sheets.
• Put one flat sheet on top of the other one
• Trim off any extra. You are making a square
• Now, roll the sheets up. See? You've made a log with a pinwheel design
• Freeze your pinwheel log for twenty minutes to a half hour
• Take the log out of the freezer and slice off thin slices of clay.
• Now roll these into beads, whatever sizes you want.
• Use a toothpick to make a hole in each bead so you can run string through each bead.
• Put the toothpick back in the bead you've made.
• Ball up your foil
• Stick the toothpick beads into the foil so they don't touch anything
• Now, bake your beads for ten minutes at 275 degrees
• String the beads and your pendant on a colorful string
• Use small beads to space the big beads and pendant apart
• Put on the clasp last
• Now you have a cool pendant you've made!
