Materials needed:
1. Fold the denim in half with the wrong side out.
2. Figure out where you want the top to be and sew it about 1 inch down on each side of the top (so the shoelace will fit inside).
3. Take shoelace and put it through the "pocket" at the top on both sides.
4. Stitch up the remaining sides using a plain or the blanket stitch.
5. Turn right side out.
Cool facts: Huai-Ann T., 12, Louisiana, USA recommends using a safety pin to help thread the shoe string or some ribbon through the "pocket " or casing you've sewn. She suggested making mini drawstring bags and also says be sure to knot the ends of the string together so they don't come out.
These make great gift bags, totes or storage bags. My daughters love these and we made them out of muslin and ribbons for our homeschool group. The boys made marble bags and the girls made totes.
