Materials needed:
How To:
1. Make small hole in the sandbox. Make sure the sand is not dry. Decorate the sides with rocks, shells, jewels, etc.
2. Break up candles into small pieces and put into the pot or a can (WAX IS VERY FLAMMABLE-ONLY HEAT WITH ADULT SUPERVISON!!)
3. Place pot or can inside of a pan with hot water. This makes a double boiler. Heat on stove on medium temperature.
4. Once wax has melted pour wax into your hole.
5. Let the wax cool for 1 hour. Take out your candle
Hints
These candles are best for outside use. You can save wax from other candles and melt them in a small can or pot. If you wish to have a layered effect, melt one color and put in the hole first. Let it cool for 1/2 hour melt other color and place on top. If you don't like the color that is in your pot, add small pieces of crayon to your candle wax.
Cool facts: If you want legs on your candle you can poke three or four holes with your finger in the bottom of the hole before pouring the wax. This is a great activity to do when you're visiting the beach and want a souvenir. You'll have a cool candle decorated with shells and pretty rocks and stuff from the beach to take home with you.
