Privacy and Information Policy
This website collects the following information from children; first name or initials, age, country/state, email address, birthdate, hobbies, traits, and interests.
This information is collected in our members-only club in order for us to forward email without requiring the child to publish her email address, and to provide a searchable listing of potential penpals with similar traits and interests.
Some of this information is collected in other areas of the site to identify and reward girls who submit articles or other material or who win contests.
None of the information collected at this site is ever disclosed to any other party. It is used strictly to provide the services described above.
If you are a citizen of the USA, you have the option to agree to the collection and use of your child's information without consenting to the disclosure of the information to third parties. This applies to all websites operated in the USA. Websites operated in the USA may not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity as a condition of participation.
Furthermore, any parent or child may review, alter, and delete the child's information online at any time. Detailed instructions for doing so are available by contacting the Editor.

A Girl's World Online Clubhouse was designed for girls and teens by girls and teens with the help of caring adults. A Girl's World can be explored and enjoyed without any registration information. There are over 100 pages of columns, features and advice which can be looked at by anyone.
In our members-only club, girls 7-17 can get a penpal without publishing their email address! After girls join, they can write girls the world over!
As of April 22, 2000, the Federal Trade Commission's COPPA Act (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) requires websites to obtain verifiable (written) parental consent in order for children under 13 in the United States to use penpal, chat or message board technology. The law has determined that email is no longer an acceptable means of obtaining consent because it is not verifiable. This means that on AGW, girls must send in a signed, parent permission form to join. For more information on the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act which sets the registration rules we follow, visit the FTC's Kidsz Privacy site.
AGW does not sell email addresses to third parties. Please be aware that A Girl's World Online Clubhouse doesn't give email addresses out to anyone. Ever. Period. Our computer keeps that a secret. This site does not sell or give out email addresses or personally identifiable information about our members to anyone else. We do ask users to tell us whether they'd like to receive free email newsletters. They may say no and unsubscribe at any time.
We also invite parents and girls to help out the club by buying books in our Amazon.com bookstore for members and by shopping at our mall. Amazon.com has terrific security measures in place to protect your privacy while shopping. We also invite girls to contribute articles to the club, write a story or poem, or shop in our mall to help support the club. A signed parental permission form, mailed to us, is required from all members. We don't give, trade, sell, or otherwise distribute any personal information you provide to us to sign up for our club or any other area on our site.
At A Girl's World, we value your privacy. We are parents and caring adults who provide a backbone of support for the girls and teens who run this site. We also don't give, trade, sell, or otherwise distribute any personal information you provide to us to sign up for our club or any other area on our site.
For the safety and privacy of the girls the world over who visit our site, no personally identifiable information such as last name, school, city, etc. will be published in any area on A Girl's World.
Our members may choose to create a penpal profile from a standard questionaire with general information about their likes and dislikes. This information is not personally identifiable. We don't give any member the opportunity to submit any personally identifiable or specific information, such as last name, city, address or school or physical traits through the forms on our site.
Members and their parents can view, correct, update, and delete profile information and email addresses from our penpal databases at any time. All they need is their penpal ID number and their passcode: the email address at time of signup. The only purpose of the profile information is for penpals to be able to create a brief, general description of their own likes and dislikes so they can find a penpal match.
Please be aware that AGW doesn't give email addresses out to anyone. Ever. Period. Our computer keeps that a secret. This site does not sell or give out email addresses or mailing lists or personally identifiable information about girls to anyone else.
For the safety and privacy of the girls the world over who visit our site, no personally identifiable information such as last name, school, city, etc. will be published in any area on AGW.

We don't use frames or any of the really fancy web design tools because they tend to crash girl's browsers or slow down page loads. Our girls help design pages that can be viewed on many browser platforms. We keep things simple because our goal is to be user friendly and safe for girls of all ages in countries around the world.
