Do you like what we're doing for girls? Please feel free to link to our site. If you're doing a newspaper article or Internet Guide, there's additional contact information on this page for you. AGW doesn't do any publicity, so your willingness to spread the word about all the hard work these girls are doing to create something great for other girls on the web is really appreciated.
When you do link, please connect to http://www.agirlsworld.com. This is our "Welcome" window and the top page of the site. We're a free monthly online magazine with articles that change daily as well as monthly, and a free Penpal Club for all the girls of the world. There's also games and lots of interactive things to do here. All the latest articles are listed on the front page.
A Girl's World Online Clubhouse - explore the clubhouse, meet new friends, join the free Penpal Club, give and get advice and share stories.
A Girl's World Online Clubhouse
Do you run chat forums or bulletin boards and are they moderated?
We have a passcode protected, members only chat area called the Gold Key Circle that opened in August of 1997. In Gold Key we have classes and role model guest chats that are run by AGW volunteers and adults. Any girl whose article is published on our site gets a free membership to this area. At the bottom of this question list is a review that was just written about our chat room and explains something about our security precautions.
We also have one of the best Penpal areas on the Internet for girls. It's a Post Office System in which no girl publishes her email address. Our computer keeps that secret. Sending mail is passcode protected, too. Be sure to have a look!
How often do you update your site?
There are five feature articles on the site that change daily. They are: Curiosity Shop, Wise Words, Fabulous Fortune, Tech Track Adventures and Girl Talk Adventures. Almost all the other articles on the site change every month just like a regular magazine.
What's unique about your site?
All of the content on A Girl's World is created by girls, for girls. Our mission is to empower and encourage 7-17 year old girls to become independent thinkers and active contributors, rather than passive consumers to society, media and the Internet. This girl crew doesn't want to just shop in the world, they want to build it! That's been our goal since we opened in June of 1996. We were the first clubhouse and online magazine on the Internet for girls that we know about.
Will your service provider allow increased traffic to your site shouldit be recommended in our guide, article or on our site?
Yes. No problem. We have a wonderful server, Media 3 in Boston. We recommend them to anyone looking for a great Internet host.
We may like to include an icon or small image to accompany the sitereview. Obviously we would have to make sure that it is copyrightcleared for use on your site and not owned by a third party.

A Girl's World Online ClubhouseDo you have a presskit or some reviews on file?
We don't have a "presskit" we can send you. But we do have information here that might be helpful. There's a complete Mission Statement and other handy stuff in our Info area. But your time is short, so here's a summary version of our information pages and some reviews. We hope you can find what you're looking for here. There's contact information that follows if you have any additional questions. And thanks for helping us make the web a better place for girls!
Our host girls, Amy, Geri, Rachel and Tessa opened A Girl's World Online Clubhouse™ during June of 1996 as a way to keep in touch with each other, even though their families lived in different parts of the country. Now, their clubhouse has evolved into the first cyber-magazine written and designed entirely for girls by girls the world over.
At AGW, girls are encouraged and empowered to become active contributors rather than passive consumers of media and the Internet. Articles, stories, advice columns, quizzes and contests are created and written by girls the world over. Our visitors and girlcrew share this idea: life is about more than what to wear, social skills or who you please. Curiosity, hope, and dreams for the future are our springboards to adventure.
New York Times: Thursday, May 21, said we're one of the top three "killer apps for girls"!

"There are a few wonderful sites that present utterly absorbing, enjoyable and comparatively safe places for pre-teenage and teen-age girls. In fact, I'm convinced that, taken together, Web sites like the ones reviewed here-- Girl Tech, Purple Moon and A Girl's World -- may just be the "killer app" for girls... A Girl's World is run by a staff of volunteers, almost all of whom are girls themselves. The result is an admirable, if unsophisticated, zine for girls (that is an) amazing testament to the creative energy of its visitors... Although the presentation of A Girl's World is simple and straightforward --nearly everything is rendered in text -- it has a greater abundance of spirit than a Girl Scout cookout. And its lack of ulterior commercial motives makes it truly refreshing."

"This is a wonderful site for girls, with great content. Any girl who wants to can submit an article, and get credit for it! They will also receive a free year's membership to Gold Key Circle…and the safety measures (in a Gold Key) are exemplary. There is no advertising, no hidden agenda, just girls having fun!"
"I simply can't praise this site enough! I couldn't find one thing I didn't like about it, and I am pretty picky about what I let my girls do and see. I have never been crazy about the idea of kids chat rooms, either, but I like the idea of the membership, password protected chat rooms that are monitored for inappropriate talk. I also like the random checking ofpersonal information. The articles are well written and informative, thecrafts are fun, the teen advice column is right on target with teen concerns, and being able to contribute your own articles is a wonderful idea! A Girl's World Online Club is definitely deserving of our Gold Award for Excellence."
