Editorial Mission

Launched in June of 1996, A Girl's World Online Clubhouse has these goals:

1. To encourage and empower 7-17 year old girls to become active contributors, not passive consumers of media and the Internet.

2. To respond to girls needs by being girl powered, written and designed for girls, by girls.

3. To inspire, educate and promote independence by:

• encouraging girls' interest in science and technical career opportunities
• focusing attention on a girls need for classes in math, science and technology
• educating girls about money and finances
• encouraging girls to be creative and self-motivating
• encouraging girls to finish high school and pursue higher education

4. To honor and reflect the diversity of the girls of the world, encouraging cultural sensitivity and world community building through our free pages and Member's Only Program.

5. To focus attention on opportunities and careers open to girls and women by giving girls access to the brightest, most creative women of our time.

6. To promote literacy, reading, writing and critical thinking skills through writing contests, articles, quizzes and problem solving activities.

7. To develop intergenerational programs online, girls and women mentors working together for a brighter future, introducing girls to the achievements of women in many cultures.

8. To increase computer literacy and make science and technology relevant to girls.

9. To provide training and resources to improve girls' Math/Science skills in grades K-12 so that more girls and women become eligible for college admission.

10. To develop programs in leadership, creativity, and building self- confidence, encouraging girls to discover that learning is not only fun, but is also a lifelong endeavor.
