Club Rules

"A Girl's World" is a great spot for us girls to have fun and make new friends. Together, we have the power to make our club a positive, special place by taking charge and making decisions for ourselves. Like any other club, we've come up with a few rules to keep things fun and safe for everyone. When you write a message or a response and send it to us, or participate in any of our Gold Key Circle activities, you agree that your message will follow the "Girl's World" Code:

DO'S

• Do be clever, bold and creative here. Express yourself!
• Do feel free to use a "handle" or a made up name if you want to. That's fun!
• Do respect yourself and other girls, even when you don't agree.
• Do say your peace, but no flaming out!
• Do remember, every girl is special. You're special. So are the girls you are writing to.
• Do ask questions, make comments and ask for changes. This is your club. Help us make "A Girl's World" the way you want it to be!
• Do read what you write before you send it. If you feel bad about what you've written, don't send it.

DON'TS

• Don't be rude, call names or insult anybody.
• Language: This site is rated "G" for all girls. Please, don't use curse words or dirty language here. If it's a word you can't say to your grandmother and feel good, don't use it in the Clubhouse.
• Topics: We love to talk about fun stuff, family, guys, and relationships. But when you write us, please don't ask us any questions that a doctor, a school nurse, or a police officer should be answering. Hey. We're just a bunch of girls here! We'd love to help. But we're not qualified to answer those questions. Sorry!
• Get Real Information Here: The good news is: we do have special chats in the Gold Key Circle where experts like nurses, coaches, trainers, psychologists, doctors, scientists and other grownups with special training come as our guests to answer your questions. So if you have a special question that we can't answer, we hope that they can.
• Fun: Don't forget to explore. Go all over the club. Have fun!

PRIVACY RULES

AGW doesn't give email addresses out to anyone. Ever. Period. Our computer keeps that a secret. This site does not sell or give out email addresses or mailing lists or personally identifiable information about girls to anyone else.

Privacy: Members of our club agree to respect the privacy of the other girls in the club when they join. That means girls may not ask for personal information during chats or when writing penpal letters to each other. Girls may ask for another girl's penpal club number, but may not ask for another girl's personal email address, phone or mailing address. If you don't have a penpal club number and would like one, sign up in our Penpal Spectacular.

PARENTAL PERMISSION

Girls: Like any after school activity like dance, parks and recreation, sports and scouting, you must have your parents permission to join our Gold Key Club.

In Nov 1998, Congress passed legislation requiring websites to obtain parental permission in writing in order for their children under seventeen to join things like chat clubs on the Internet. A Girl's World Online Clubhouse has always been a leader in online safety for kids. We required parental permission before November, 1998, but now we ask for a completed parental permission form (snail mailed to us) or a credit card PayPal payment for our Gold Key Club.

SAFETY TIPS

• Remember, email on the Internet is not private. A message is like a postcard. There is some chance that another person could possibly intercept your messages and read them. So stay safe! Don't ever give out personal information (like your last name address, phone, school name).
• If someone does ask you for personal information, show your parents. Let's keep our club safe and fun for everyone. Remember:
• Never tell anyone your last name
• Never tell anyone your home address or where you live.
• Never tell anyone your home telephone number.
• Never tell another club member that you'll meet or talk with them in-person before asking your parents FIRST if it's OK.
