In BATTLEFIELD EARTH: It's the year 3000 and the only earthmen left after an ancient war with 9-foot-tall aliens called the Psychlos, are stone age types, living in the high mountains. The Psychlos are running a gold mining operation on earth but use their own people because they don't think "man animals" are even smart enough to be miners! When head of Psychlo security Terl (John Travolta in some wild make-up) hooks a captive earthman Jonnie (Barry Pepper) up to a Psychlo learning device, he gets more than he bargained for. Jonnie learns everything about the Psychlos including how to defeat them. He rescues his girlfriend and trains her and other captive humans to shoot guns, plant explosives, fly jets and destroy the Psychlo domed stronghold. The earthmen even "beam" a guy to the Psychlo home planet and blow it up. Terl ends up a captive and all the humans are at last free!

The special effects in this film are awesome! You see entire ancient destroyed earth cities and the costumes and make-up on the weird Psychlo aliens are really cool. The fight action blows you away. The only thing that didn't make too much sense was that the earthmen seem to go from stone age cavemen/hunter types to guys who can fly jets and plant explosives almost overnight!

If you like sci-fi action (a lot like a battle videogame) and cool effects, you'll like this movie.
