AGW'S HOLLYWOOD REVIEW CREW PRESENTS
Bedazzled
Lesha, 16 of California, one of our "Hollywood Preview Crew", got to go to a screening
of a new film! Here is what Lesha thought of the new comedy BEDAZZLED
In BEDAZZLED, nerdy computer tech support guy Elliot
Richards (Brendan Fraser) is in love with fellow worker Alison Gardner
who barely knows he exists. Elliot is desperate to be a cool, successful
hottie in order to gain Alison's love.
When Elliot meets a drop-dead-gorgeous woman, he learns that she's
actually the Devil (Elizabeth Hurley) and that, in exchange for his
soul, she'll grant him seven wishes. Elliot first wishes to be rich,
powerful and married to Alison but the Devil's version of his wish isn't
pleasant and he's almost killed! His
remaining wishes involve Elliot transforming into everything from an
NBA superstar to an over-emotional, "sensitive" man but these new lives
all have a Devil's "twist" that plummets Elliot into a living Hell.
Elliot refuses a final wish until the Devil frightens him into making
one. When the wish is for another person's benefit, the frustrated lady
Devil announces that the selfless act has broken Elliot's contract with
her. He can keep his soul! Does he finally get the girl of his dreams?
See the film to find out.
BEDAZZLED doesn't really offer a new story idea (It's based on a 1967
film of the same name) but Brendan Fraser ("The Mummy" "Blast From the
Past", etc.) is really easy and funny to watch as he takes on totally
different personalities on the way to his goal. Elliot is really a sweet
guy at heart and you root for him to land his crush. Elizabeth Hurley
("Austin Powers" and all those gorgeous cosmetics ads) makes a really
evil, but funny temptress-style Devil. There are lots of laughs as
Elliot goes through his wish list and the soundtrack music really rocks.
Despite the over-used "sell your soul to the Devil" theme, BEDAZZLED
should be a great date flick. Check it out.
BEDAZZLED Opens October 20th
This movie is rated "PG-13"
