In SPACE COWBOYS, Air Force test pilot veteran Frank Corvin (Clint Eastwood) is asked to come back to NASA after years in retirement because there is a really old Russian communications satellite that is falling dangerously out of orbit. Frank built the guidance system for our Skylab in the '60's and the systems are the same! No one else can do the job. While wondering how the Russians got our guidance system, Frank insists on gathering up "Team Daedalus", his test pilot pioneer buds who first broke the sound barrier in experimental jets but never got to go into space.

Frank and his crusty buddies train with the young astronauts. Nasa boss Bob Gerson secretly hopes and plans that they will never pass the rigorous training, Frank will teach young astronaut Ethan Grace all he knows and the grandpa team will never make the shuttle flight. Of course these old birds are much tougher than expected and the team does, finally go into space. Once connected with the huge Russian cold war satellite, Frank discovers that this big orbiting piece of metal is much more than he was told and it becomes a race against time and great danger for Frank and crew to protect the Earth and save the day.

This film has got everything for your whole family: humor, action and a little romance. Don't stay home because the lead heros are "grandpa" age. These are the coolest grandpas you'll ever meet! Parts of the movie are also really funny and, since NASA shot 77-year-old John Glenn into space, in 1998, it could happen! The space action effects look totally real and it's super exciting as you wonder if the guys will overcome all obstacles and make it home! It's also cool that the NASA mission head and astronauts' doctor are both women. We hear a lot about astronauts who walked on the moon (Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin) but next to nothing about the guys who flew the first ultra-sonic jets to the edge of space and longed for more, making the space program possible. This is their story and, as they blast off, you'll have a blast too!
