AGW preview crew staffers Renee w., 13, California and Lynn b. went to a preview screening of a new science fiction action film. Here are their thoughts on:

JURASSIC PARK III

Tea Leoni says, "We started in Hawaii with no ending, the middle a little up in the air, and the beginning, pretty solid". Co-star William H. Macy wrote a scene or two and the collaborative effort that is Jurassic Park III just may be the best dino-mite action fest yet! Of his scary co-stars Sam Neill says, "These things are so sophisticated and expressive that you start thinking of them as living beings, other personalities on the set." There are dinos on the ground, in the air and underwater and the human cast got more than a few bruises from Stan Winston's on-set, state-of-the-art, dino actors. Talk about your temperamental action stars!

--------------
Well we all knew it was going to come and it's finally here, Jurassic Park III! Yay! This time Dr. Alan Grant is back and he's still digging up dinosaurs. ^_^ The dig he's working on is quickly running out of money, they'll have to shut down if they don't find some soon. Grant and his student Billy get an interesting proposition from Kirby Enterprises. They want Dr. Grant to be their guide when they fly over the island Isla Sorna (which is not the one he was on in the first movie). The Kirbys offer to pay a lot of money toward their dig in Montana and that is what sways them to agree.
Disaster strikes on the island and the plane crashes when a big scaly carnivore tries to devour one of them. It turns out that Dr. Grant was conned into a bit of a big mess. There is no "Kirby Enterprises" and it turns out that the owners are actually parents looking for a lost child. "What will happen?" . Who will get off the island alive is the question shooting through everyone's mind right now.

Renee says: This movie is better than number 2 (The Lost World) but not as good as the first one. I liked it because it was a lot of fun and it had a cute little love story in it between Tea Leoni and her ex-husband William H. Macy. I'd give it four out of five stars. I think that it's okay for anyone if they don't mind one or two curse words. Other than that it was good movie and a lot of fun. The special effects are great also. I definitely recommend it.

Lynn Says: Jurassic Park III is one of the best sequels I've ever seen. Bringing Sam Neill back as Dr. Grant was genius and wrapping up his relationship with his romantic interest from the first film Ellie (Laura Dern), who plays a small but ultimately key part in this film, was a very satisfying choice. The ensemble cast is excellent. Peppered throughout are some very funny, character-driven scenes that nicely balance all the excellently-executed dino action. Michael Jeter delivers one of the film's best lines "You mean there are TWO islands with dinosaurs on them?"

Bill Macy and Tea Leoni are great fun to watch as an estranged couple finding their way back to each other while hoping a dinosaur doesn't eat them or their missing son. Macy's tile salesman turned action hero is endearing and easy to root for. Alessandro Nivola (Billy) and Trevor Morgan (Eric) are just as convincing and heroic as their older counterparts. Like young "Newt" in Aliens, Eric has learned to survive right in the midst of these deadly creatures. Director Joe Johnston does a great job. For once, in this type of film, the human characters don't entirely take a back seat to the fabulous critters. And fabulous they are. These "raptors" can call for each other, set traps and reason. There are plenty of "jump-out-atcha" surprises. The Spinosaurus is a great nemesis who makes mincemeat of the resident T-Rex….and he swims too! Like Captain Hook's crocodile he has swallowed a little surprise. The interaction of the animatronic dinosaurs and those created in computer is seamless…all in the same shot! You can't tell the difference.

The ending of the film, complete with flying Pteranodons makes you wonder if the next installment might be called "Central Park: Dinos in the City." Whatever…. I can't wait and you shouldn't either. Grab your buds and head for the multi-plex!
