AGW Entertainment reporter Lynn B. saw a new romantic comedy film. Here are her thoughts on....

JUST MARRIED

20th Century Fox Pictures

Brittany Murphy and Ashton Kutcher are supposed to be a real-life couple. If they aren't, then they should be because they have great chemistry in their new romantic comedy Just Married. Running through beautiful and romantic settings all over France and Italy to shoot the film is certainly a prelude to falling in love. Of course, she's about 5' 2" and he's over 6 feet. When he picks her up it's like he's playing with a Barbie!

This film starts with Tom Leezak (Ashton Kutcher) and Sarah Mc Nerney (Brittany Murphy) returning to L.A. after having the Honeymoon from heck. They evidently hate each other and we learn, in flashback, how they met and fell in love despite their backgrounds. She's a rich girl/art history major. He's a middle-class sports nut/radio traffic reporter whose idea of a great day is a t.v. baseball game and some beer nuts. You can imagine how this doesn't fly on a European honeymoon.

All kinds of crazy mishaps occur to the young couple and their fights escalate until Sarah's former, richboy suitor Peter (Christian Kane) shows up at their hotel and, after Sarah and Tom fight, takes her off for a day in the country. The usual romantic misunderstandings ensue and, by the time they get home, the couple is ready to break up. Will they re-unite? Hey, this is a romantic comedy isn't it?

Okay, this film is full of silly physical comedy (a roach in the marriage bed, falls from buildings, getting attacked by pigeons, etc.) and the plot isn't that fresh but…who cares? Brittany and Ashton are… okay…I'll say it… adorable in this film. Her giggles are infectious and his blundering "Dude, Where's My Wife?" enthusiasm and goofy pratfalls just make you laugh. The beyond-tiny, little wind-up toy car they have to drive in Europe is funny on sight and when long-legged, 6 footer Ashton crams himself behind the wheel, it's a riot.

You get the idea that these two are really in love (or were when they were filming this). Murphy just glows and makes great eye contact with Ashton and he can't seem to stop looking at her with that goofy "I wanna spread peanut butter all over ya and munch ya like a cracker" smile. Just Married will provide plenty of relationship cliché's (like wife finds other woman's underwear, rich girl's parents don't like poor guy, low class Americans versus suave Europeans, etc.) but it has a warm heart and a cute couple at the center. It's a great date flick.

Rated: PG-13
