AGW'S HOLLYWOOD REVIEW CREW PRESENTS Rugrats in Paris: the movie
Lynn.b of California, one of our "Hollywood Preview Crew", got to go to a screening
of a new film! This film review is edited by Renee, 13, California.
Here are Lynn's thoughts on RUGRATS IN PARIS: THE MOVIE
"In RUGRATS IN PARIS, CHUCKIE is sad because
he needs a mother. His widowed dad CHAS has started dating again but,
so far, no luck. When electronics whiz STU PICKLES is called to Paris
to repair a huge mechanical dinosaur at EuroReptarland, Chuckie, his
dad and the whole gang is invited along.
When Tommy, Angelica, Phil, Lil, Baby Dil, Didi and the whole gang
arrive at Reptarland, COCO LA BOUCHE, (pronounced Boosh) the selfish
manager of the park, decides she'll marry Chas in order to have the
"family" that she needs to get promoted. Coco hates kids and it's her pretty and friendly assistant KIRA WATANABE (Wah-tah-nah-bae) who is the perfect match for Chas and the right new mommie for Chuckie.
With self-centered Angelica's help, Coco almost marries Chas but once
Angelica sees how unhappy the marriage will make Chuckie and Chas, she
tells the gang the truth and they are off to stop the wedding at Notre
Dame Cathedral! Will they make it? Will Chas and Chuckie get the right
new wife and mom? See the film to find out!
This movie is based on the very popular "Rugrats" t.v. series that looks
at our world through the eyes of babies and kids. The characters are
very endearing to young kids but this film has something for pre-teens,
teens and the whole family! There are some more adult "in-jokes" (like
Angelica taking her turn in a shadowed room pretending to be "The Godfather"
passing out favors at his daughter's wedding!) and the action/chase
sequences through the theme park are beautifully drawn and great fun
to watch.
There is also the romance angle as we watch Chas fall for the wrong
woman and root for a relationship with Kira instead.
It's fun hearing the voices of stars Susan Sarandon and John Lithgow and
the music is lively. In a sub-plot focusing on the family dog, we get to
hear the upbeat hit "Who Let The Dogs Out?". The official website is a
riot. You can download "digibaby" rugrats for your desktop. Lots of
laughs and adventure for all ages!
