"...I
believe the most important attribute for the making of a dancer is
the desire to become one. The obvious necessities of physique become
less important if the heart, intelligence and musicality are present."
-- Brian Scott Founding Artistic Director, Quinte Ballet School, Ontario
Canada
I am a Dancer
I use my feet and
body to move in a way which I express myself. I take ballet, pointe,
and character. Each one is very different but they all allow you to
express yourself. Dancing is my life. When I dance I feel free of all
my burdens. I also love to perform. The experience of showing others
what you love is one of the best things in the world.
Ballet is a classical
form of dance. Pointe- I consider Pointe and Ballet different types
of dance. Ballet, in my opinion, is done on flat shoes while pointe
is done on your toes or in "toe shoes" Many people think ballerinas
are wimps and sissys, but I know better. Dancing requires a tremendous
amount of strength and work. Like dancers always say, "Dancers Have
a Better Attitude". In case you didn't know, attitudes are also a position
in many types of dance as well as your personality.
Improving Any Kind of Dance
Stretch before you
do anything. Swing, rock, jazz, tap -- even just dancing in front of
MTV go better and there's less chance of injury if you stretch. Here's
a great site that has some good, basic stretches and some of the best
ballet info any place around. It's called
On Your Toes. Fitness
for Kids has warm-ups and stretching exercises with easy to read
diagrams.
