He Hangs Up on Me For His Friends!

My boy friend and I talk on the phone a lot. Every time I call him, I do get to talk to him, but if one of his friends calls him he tells me to hold on and he hangs up on me to talk to them. Then he never calls me back! What do I do? - Cassandra, 13, Texas

"Hey, Cassandra!" First of all we're talking about boys. So if I remember this right, they are always around you!

Well, to answer your question, I understand that this is probably your first or second boyfriend, so I think you know nothing lasts forever. But to keep what you have, I think you should tell him how you feel or tell him that you don't feel that "thing" anymore when you talk to him.

Friends are usually one of the things that comes first for most people, so my other suggestion is try to see what he feels about this. I mean, if you had a friend, wouldn't you want to put her first instead of your boyfriend? I'm not saying that that's an excuse, because relationships are "big" I know. But if you think about it, if he liked you that much, would he choose his friends over you?

I would think about your situation, but if you feel like he's ignoring you, or making you feel like a necessity, I would dump him. There will be more boyfriends in the future, I promise. So I know you'll find someone sometime that truly cares about how you feel and how you think. But basically, all the things I said would be in my head while trying to figure this out.

I hope my suggestions help you somewhat. Sincerely,

Heather
