I'm Insecure About My Crush!

Here's the thing! My big crush asked me out and I totally took the chance and said yes, but now I'm afraid to even talk around him. I'm playing like I'm shy, but I'm not at all. But my best friend always talks and makes conversation. I'm getting the feeling that he likes her cuz he even flirts with her! I know that he likes me; we even kissed last night but... this best friend thing has got me being a little insecure and jealous. Help!? - Mya, 13, Canada

"Hey, Mya!'" Well, first, major props on saying YES to your crush; we all know that took some GUTS. I totally know where you're coming from with the whole shy act. I used to do it all the time and you know what? I still do it sometimes but that isn't always the best way to win a guy's heart. When you can't make conversation with him or seclude yourself from him, he'll think that you don't like him any more, that there is something wrong with him. Or he might even think that he is intimidating, which would most likely make him feel uncomfortable with you.

The whole thing with him flirting with your best friend is most likely not that big of a deal because guys will flirt with anyone who they think is flirting with them. If he kissed you, then they are probably just friends that have a connection.

But that doesn't mean that it is a romantic connection; like I said before they could just be friends. What i think you should do is try to open up a little more each time you and your crush talk. You could find out about his interests: like cars, sports etc. And with your friend, do you think she likes him? Maybe you should talk with her, tell her how you feel. She might not even realize what she is doing and nor may he. I hope my advice will be useful and good luck!
