How Do I Get Him to Notice Me?

Hi, I like this guy a lot. He is younger than me, even though that doesn't matter. I know him from work and I have been trying to hook up with him. I have written him plenty of notes telling him how I feel. I finally wrote him a note asking him to go with me to homecoming. Neither of us went to homecoming due to work schedules but he is now ignoring me completely. What do I do? He is a very shy guy - does he like me or is that a hint to leave him alone? - Alicia, 15, New Mexico

"Hey, Alicia!'" First of all it's good that you understand that there's nothing wrong
with liking a boy that is younger than you. Although because he is younger, he might feel intimidated by you and not have the ability to handle matters with you, so he shies away. Frankly it seems like he's just shy.

What you should do is strike up a friendly conversation with him about something trivial like work, school. Make sure that you are friends with him first so that he can feel comfortable around you. Then, when both of you aren't busy, ask him to a movie. You can double date with another co-worker or friend so he feels a little bit more comfortable. During your date, make sure you get some alone time with him. After the movie, tell him how you feel face to face and ask him how he feels back. Then you can go ahead from there. If he says no, or refuses to go the movies with you, then just forget about him since he probably isn't interested, and find some one else.
