I'm An "Old Fashioned" Girl!

I like this guy and he knows I like him. We flirt with each other and everything. But I'm old fashioned and won't ask a guy out. I think he likes me but he hasn't asked me out. What do I do? - Sophia, 12, Kentucky

"Hey, Sophia!'" First of all, I want to share something with you - I'm "old-fashioned" too! The guy is going to ask me out, pay for the date, etc. It sort of adds a "knight in shining armor" chivalry to everything. And I don't know about you, but I like that!

But it's hard too, when you really like someone but won't ask him out. I want to encourage you, however, to stand by your convictions: let this guy be the one to ask you to go get something to eat or hang-out at the mall. He will if he's truly interested. And if he misses... Oh, well, that's his loss!

Meanwhile, you don't have the pressure of "finding" a guy or begging him to go the movies with you - explore all the opportunities you can! Volunteer, write a book (or read one), call your girlfriends, go shopping; the possibilities are endless. Enjoy being a single girl right now because it won't be that way forever! Have fun!
