I've Got a Crush on an Older Guy!

I have a crush on my friend's big brother. The problem is, he's 15. He's known me for ages and still sees me as a nine-year old. How could I get him to see I'm already 12 and not just his "annoying little sister's" friend? - Kaisa, 12, Finland

"Hey, Kaisa!'" How are ya? So you like your friends big bro, huh? And, you want to get him to treat you like you were older? Try flirting with him a little.

Talk to him when you can. If you and your friend are going to play a game, ask him if he wants to play (maybe even on your team). But, I'm not guaranteeing anything will happen. He might not think of you as his "annoying little sisters friend", but as a girl who's 3 years younger than him. Now, I'm not saying that a relationship won't last, but wait until your older, then it won't seem like such a difference. Afterall, he's probably in high school and you're just a middle schooler. The idea of being your boyfriend might seem a little bit weird to him. And, if you did end up going out then broke up (eventually you probably would) you would have to see him every time you went over to your friends house. How awkward would that be?

So, my advice to you is to just stick to guys in your grade, or a year older, for right now. Later you can have older dates without it being an issue (Look at all the married adults and celebs you know-- in a lot of cases there is a few years age gap). Maybe you and your friends bro can hook up in a few years, IF you still have an interest in him. Afterall, crushes come and go! Hope this helps!
