Friend or foe?
Girlfriend or boyfriend?
Take our quiz and check that new kid out!

Okay, girls. You've met somebody new, but you're not sure what kind of relationship you want to have with them. Are they just an acquaintance? A friend? Do they have what it takes to be a best friend or even a boyfriend?

Rachel and Tessa worked up this little quiz. We're hoping it will help you decide!

  1. Imagine you've been sick for a couple of days. You walk into your history class and the teacher totally surprises you with a pop quiz. You fail. He's one of those teachers who announces your grade to everyone as he puts your paper on your desk, so he totally embarrasses you with your "F". After class, your new friend would most likely say:

    a. Hey. Mr. Q gave you a bad time in there. Why don't we go down to the park and talk about it? Maybe we can do the homework together and get caught up.
    b. Hey. What you need is to forget that class. I'm going to Ralph's house to catch the latest 'tendo. Comin'?
    c. Hey, too bad. I got a B plus! Catch ya later!

  2. At school, your new friend is best known for:

    a. Hanging with the "popular" crowd and pretty much ignoring the rest of humanity.
    b. Being friendly to everyone and treating other people like equals.
    c. Making rude comments about other kids in the class to make points with their friends.

  3. You bring a visitor to school. It's your cousin from England, and she's totally freak -- leathers, chains, nose-rings, really rad. Your new friend reacts by:

    a. Saying hello and treating you both like equals.
    b. Inviting all their other friends to meet your cousin -- and suddenly everyone ignores you.
    c. Getting freaked by your cousin's appearance and hauling out of there.

  4. You trip in a puddle of water during PE and accidentally tackle your new friend's best bud, whose pants get all muddy. Best bud has to go home to change clothes. Your new friend:

    a. Hisses, "That was so dumb!" and then doesn't speak to you the rest of the day.
    b. Smiles and tells you, "Hey, accidents happen," and acts normal.
    c. Takes care of their best bud, but then calls you later.

  5. You meet your new friend at a movie. They're hanging out with the family. The first thing they do is:

    a. Introduce you to mom and dad and ask if you'd like to sit with them.
    b. Wave "Hi" and nod, but then go back to the family conversation.
    c. Glance away like they don't know who you are.

  6. You just won first prize at the Science Fair, beating your new friend and all their other friends. Their reaction is:

    a. A big congratulations. Then they introduce you proudly to their friends and talk about what a great winning entry you created.
    b. They nod and smile and say "great job" and then go away.
    c. They're obviously upset and walk off when they see you coming.

  7. It's your new friend's turn to choose what the gang is going to do for fun. They invite you along, and decide to:

    a. Take everyone skateboarding. You don't know how, but your new friend says, "C'mon! You'll like it!"
    b. Go play Nintendo until their eyeballs fall out, even though you're not into doing that for hours on end.
    c. Suggest a couple of different movies to rent and asks which ones you've seen or if you have any ideas.

  8. Your new friend comes over to your house to do homework. You have a cat. They are deathly allergic. Their reaction is:

    a. To ask for some allergy meds and tough it out with a smile. Then they invite you to their house next time.
    b. To cough and choke and grumble a lot, making you feel uncomfortable.
    c. They won't even step in the front door, and leave.

  9. Your new friend is a total wizard at card games. They offer to teach you the latest game -- "Magic: the Gathering."

    a. You don't want to try it, and so they say, "Fine," and ask someone else over instead.
    b. You try it and you're awful at it, and they say, "That's okay," and make you play two more games anyway.
    c. You try it and you hate it, and they say, "So, what other card games do you like?" And you play Crazy Eights together and have a great time.

  10. You were in the same class with your new friend last year. Summer's over, and you two step into class together for the first time. They:

    a. Say "Hi" first and come over to talk.
    b. Nod at you, but turn back to their regular group of friends.
    c. Have completely forgotten you, or pretend they don't know you.

  11. Your new friend comes over to your house to do homework. Your mom just went totally bonkers over something you did and screams at you, totally embarrassing you. Your new friend's reaction is to:

    a. Freak out at your mom getting mad, leave, and not want to come back to your house ever again.
    b. Totally understand, pat you on the back, realize that your mother is human and made a mistake, and never say another word about it.
    c. Joke about what a nut case your mother is.

  12. You and your new friend get together and talk one-on-one for the first time. The conversation runs like this:

    a. All this kid can do is say "I", and talk about themselves.
    b. This new kid asks about who you are and what you like.
    c. This new kid asks you a question about yourself, then interrupts two seconds later with their own story. And they keep doing this!

  13. You just had a really big fight with one of your best friends. Your new friend saw the whole thing. They:

    a. Listen to what you have to say. Then an hour later, are talking to their friends -- or even worse, your friend -- and rat about everything you had to say.
    b. Immediately take sides with you or your friend.
    c. Say, "I'm sorry that happened," but don't take sides. They don't get involved, but are there for you to talk to.
