How Can I Get Through the Year With an Unfair Teacher? Right now I have a teacher who is very tricky, and sometimes I think she's not being fair. I'm trying to do well and study as hard as I can. I think I'm doing great, but I don't know If I can put up with her the whole year. What can do to get through this? - Laura, 10, North Carolina "Hey, Laura!" Teachers that are unfair can be a problem. If you are treated unfairly it will distract you from learning. Really, there is only one thing to do: Walk up to the teacher during recesses or after class and say, "Mrs. Smith (or whatever her name is), I feel like you're being unfair." Then explain the way you feel. But whatever you do, don't lose your temper. Your teacher will really respect you if you just calmly tell her what's wrong. Don't cry or whine; that will make you look immature. Some times teachers don't realize they are being unfair and wouldn't mind a friendly reminder. My parents are teachers and agree to the statement. Just be honest calm and it will make your year more enjoyable. If your teacher disagrees with you, maybe she really isn't unfair and you could work a little harder. I'm hoping that that's not the case and my advice works. Good Luck!
